Sugar ‘n Ice was started in 1997 by Kate de Waal, a Grand Diplome student from the Silwood School of Cookery in Cape Town, a world renowned culinary institution.  Since then we’ve been creating “Handmade Cakes of Distinction” encompassing a variety of Wedding and Special Occasion Cakes from the Traditional to the more Contemporary and have developed thousands of styles in the past 21 years.  We specialise in Weddings and all Special Occasions (Anniversaries, Baby Showers, Birthdays, Christenings, Kitchen Teas, etc.).  Our Cakes are handmade to order and receive our personal attention to detail while designing your cake according to your specifications. 

Our classroom environment enables us to share our skills we’ve developed with you. We are proud to run classes in Wedding cake decorating which starts from the basics and incorporates a large variety of skills required in the Cake decorating industry.

Our range of Decadent” Cupcakes, recently introduced, means that you are able to enjoy the Freshness and “Yumminess” of our cupcakes at all your functions  –  from a casual Afternoon Tea to your most Elegant Sophisticated Party.
